This modules objective was to design and make a model of a time machine, influenced by a specific historical period, our time machines had to incorporate some means of setting coordinates.
Artifacts from the past can be thought of as time-machines in themselves so i researched Praxinoscopes, a 19th-century optical animation toy patented by Charles-Émile Reynaud in 1877.
My take on the time travel part of this project was to make animation strips of different people from different time periods dancing. The device consists of a central drum containing 12 mirrors, surrounded by a strip of 12 pictures. As the drum spins, the images are reflected in the mirrors, creating an animated illusion of movement.
Unlike the standard Praxinoscope, the "Theatre" model included a box with a viewing hole, a proscenium arch, and interchangeable, fixed scenic backgrounds. The viewer looks through a rectangular opening to see the animation, which is styled as a miniature stage performance.
