commissioned murals & prints

This project involved creating mural artwork for a café space, designed to bring colour, character, and a strong visual identity to the interior. The aim was to produce bold, eye-catching pieces that complemented the atmosphere of the space while creating something memorable for customers.

I began by creating the designs digitally, developing a series of large-scale stylised portraits using strong shapes, layered colour blocking, and a contemporary abstract style. Each image was slightly different, allowing the collection to feel connected while still giving every piece its own individual character. Once the design was finalised, I projected the image onto the wall to accurately transfer the compositions before hand-painting the mural. This allowed me to maintain precision while still giving the artwork a handmade finish.

The finished series was displayed throughout the café, with individual pieces also sold as artwork within the space. Working on a live client commission gave me valuable experience in balancing creativity with client expectations, adapting designs to suit a commercial environment, and creating work that was both visually impactful and functional within the space.
